Blackjack Strategy: Card Counting

First, you must understand that winning in blackjack. and knowing the probabilities, is dependent on the knowing remaining mix of cards that are to be played.

It is a good mix of cards, and the chances of the players are higher, if the remaining mix of cards are the following: picture cards, aces and tens. On the contrary, if the remaining mix of cards are small cards between 2 and 6, thus, the chances of the players to win will decrease, and the odds will be on the dealer's side.

Large cards are more favorable to players; they will have a higher chance of getting a blackjack. To know if the remaining cards are large cards, players have to keep track of the cards that are already played.

For players to keep track of the played cards they must put a tag to each card - this is the process of card counting. The small cards that are favorable for dealers are: 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 - this should have a tag "+1" (plus one). The large cards that are favorable for players are: 10, J, Q, K, and Ace - these should have a tag of "-1" (minus one). The cards that are remaining are the: 7, 8 and 9 - these should have a tag of "0" (zero).

Card counting is simple; this is just adding tags for every card that is played already.

Card counting is a strategy that you must practice to master. The first step is to get a deck of cards and then shuffle them. Now turn one card over and then recite the tag for each card. Example: your first card is 4 - say "plus one", second card is a jack - say "minus one". Continue doing this until you finish the entire deck of cards. This will help you get a feel for card counting.

You can check the accuracy of your card counting if you are finished counting the deck of cards; your running count at the end should be zero.

Continue practicing with one card, and then, later on, you can do this faster. After you master card counting with one card, do it again, but this time card-count two cards at the same time. Flip two to three cards at the same time, look at the cards and then cancel the entire high card and the low card. If you master this cancellation of high and low cards you don't have to count all single cards in the layout anymore.

Keep on practicing card counting; practice at home if you must, until you can card count accurately. Your goal is to card count accurately in about 30 seconds or less.
